Where Hidaya Works

Our Headquarters is located in Karachi. Central Field Operations (CFO) is located in Shikarpur and serves the economically depressed areas in the provinces of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan. Shikarpur has been chosen due to its proximity to the economically depressed areas of the country.

Hidaya Trust has District Operations (DO) in the following localities:
  • Karachi/Thatta (KTDO)
  • Jamshoro/Hyderabad (JHDO)
  • Sukkur/Khairpur (SKDO)
  • Shikarpur/Jacobabad (SJDO)
  • Qambar-Shahdadkot (QsDO)
  • Rahim Yar Khan (RDO)
  • Lahore (LDO)
  • Abbottabad/Mansehra (AMDO)

Solicitation of Funds

Hidaya Trust is mostly funded by its partner organization, Hidaya Foundation (www.hidaya.org), which registered in California, USA. Hidaya Foundation collects funds through mass mailing campaigns, magazine, newspaper and television advertisements, social networking, and mass emails. The majority of Hidaya Foundation’s donations come from individual donors in the form of Zakat and Sadaqa. A good number of donors work in the high-tech industries, and most of the companies they work for match employee donations. Hidaya receives a tiny amount of gift-matching donations from companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook, Nvidia, Ebay, Cisco, Pepsi-Cola, and many more.

Anti-Terrorism Measures

Hidaya Trust executes projects through its volunteers and employees instead of depending on other organizations. In rare cases, when it must partner with another organization, Hidaya Trust does not release funds to that organization until the organization and the names of its board of directors are checked against the terrorist organization lists issued by United Nations, US Department of Treasury and European Union.

Standard Operating Procedures

Hidaya Trust has established well-documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which encompass all business processes of the organization such as project proposals, recipient registration and investigation, execution methodology and project report. All employees, volunteers and partner organizations are trained in using the SOP and are required to follow these procedures.

Project Life Cycle

All projects must have a well-thought off Project plan before any funding is approved and released. The proposal must clearly document the goals and objectives of the project, implementation plan, perceived challenges, associated risk factors, and expected results. Upon completion, a project completion report is written and verified, which includes photographs taken during the execution phase and all purchase receipts to ensure proper utilization of funds. Hidaya maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards financial and process violations. For long-term ongoing projects, funding is released in stages as project phases are completed; interim reports are documented and audited to ensure close monitoring of the project execution and performance.

Qualifying Beneficiaries

Word of mouth and our advertisements in the media bring potential recipients to Hidaya’s offices where they fill an application form for all programs, depending on their specific needs. The application automatically triggers an investigation process; Hidaya’s team interviews neighbors and school officials (if appropriate) and completes an investigation form. If the person is deemed deserving, the management makes a decision to provide either one-time relief or ongoing support.

Forms of Support

Hidaya helps beneficiaries in a variety of ways. They include direct financial assistance, food (cooked, dry ration, meat), drinking water (including water hand pumps and delivery by water tanker), agriculture (such as trees, seeds, livestock, poultry), clothing, educational support, and medical assistance.

Hidaya Trust also receives containers from its partner organization Hidaya Foundation, which consist of a variety of goods including computers, medical equipment, medical supplies, toys, books, clothes, pots and pans, etc. All the household items are distributed among the deserving in economically depressed areas. Computers and books are distributed at schools. Medical supplies and equipment are given to hospitals which serve the poor.
