Locations in Pakistan

While our Head Quarter is located in Karachi, Shikarpur has been chosen as our Central Field Operations because of its proximity to the economically depressed areas in three of the largest provinces - Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan.

Hidaya Trust has district operations [DO] in the following localities: Karachi/Thatta [KTDO], Jamshoro/Hyderabad [JHDO], Sukkur/Khairpur [SKDO], Shikarpur/Larkana [SLDO], Qambar-Shahdadkot [QsDO], Rahimyarkhan [RDO], Lahore [LDO], Abbotabad/Manhsera [AMDO] districts.

Solicitation of Funds

Hidaya Trust is mostly funded by a partner organization, Hidaya Foundation, registered in California, USA. Hidaya Foundation collects funds through mass mailing campaigns, magazine and newspaper advertisements, emails and TV ads, mostly in North America. Majority of the donors belong to the technological field/industry; in many cases their employers (for example, Oracle, Microsoft, Cisco, Pepsi-Cola) match their donations. While most funds collected on Hidaya platform are of Zakat in nature, other types of donations such as Sadaqa, and in-kind donation are also received.

Anti-Terrorism Measures

Hidaya Trust executes projects through its volunteers and employees instead of depending on other organizations. In rare cases, when it must partner with another organization, Hidaya trust does not release funds to that organization until the organization and the names of its board of directors are checked against the terrorist organization lists issued by United Nations, US Department of Treasury and European Union.

Standard Operating Procedures

Hidaya Trust has established well-documented standard operating procedures (SOPs), which encompass all business processes of the organization such as project proposals, recipient registration and investigation, execution methodology and project report. All employees, volunteers and partner organizations are trained in using the SOPS and are required to follow these procedures.

Project Life Cycle

All projects must have a well-thought off Project plan before any funding is approved and released. The proposal must clearly document the goals and objectives of the project, implementation plan, perceived challenges, associated risk factors, and expected results. Upon completion, a project completion report is written and verified, which includes photographs taken during the execution phase and all purchase receipts to ensure proper use. Hidaya maintains a zero-tolerance policy on adherence against financial and process violations. For long-term projects, funding is released in stages as project phases are completed; interim reports are documented and audited to ensure close monitoring of the project execution and performance.

How the Deserving Recipent are Qualified

Word of mouth and our advertisements in the media bring potential recipients to Hidaya’s offices where they fill an application form for Education, Social Welfare, or Health Care Program, depending on their specific needs. The application automatically triggers an investigation process; Hidaya's team interviews neighbors and school officials (if appropriate) and completes an investigation form. If the person is deemed deserving, the management makes a decision to provide either one-time relief or ongoing support.

Types of Support

Hidaya Trust offers assistance in three ways:

  • Distribution of Zakat in form of cash (given as checks for tracking), food ration, and clothes.

  • Sadaqah (charity) in the form of ration, cooked food, meat, clean drinking water (hand-pumps installation).

  • Used articles and supplies such as computers, medical equipment, medical supplies, toys, books, clothes, pots & pans, and other household goods, which are collected by Hidaya Foundation in USA and shipped to Hidaya Trust in containers. Computers and books are donated to educational institutions, while medical supplies and equipment are offered to hospitals and clinics committed to serve the poor and needy.
