Headquartered in the Silicon Valley, Hidaya Foundation offers a unique Information & Communication Technology Program where students and graduates with limited financial resources are offered hands on training opportunities to enhance their skills. This training allows them to compete for high paying  positions in today's world-wide competitive IT job market.  These hands-on classes are offered by Hidaya Institute of Science & Technology (HIST) www.histpk.org, a division of Hidaya Trust (www.hidayatrust.org) in  Pakistan.


Students from rural areas, and those who are facing financial difficulties, are supported by stipends for their day-to-day living expenses and two or four month long internships are offered to them on non-tuition basis. Hundreds of students sign up each semester for these highly sought internships.


Hidaya’s Information & Communication Technology Program includes the following projects:

 

Basic Computer Skills
Under Basic Computer Skills, students from 6th grade and upward are given a basic understanding of hardware and application software, and are prepared for A Plus Certification.


Software Development Training
Under Software Development Training, fresh graduates and unemployed software engineers are provided training opportunities at Hidaya Institute of Science & Technology (HIST), a division of Hidaya Trust, Pakistan where interns learn advanced concepts of cutting edge web development technologies and work on Hidaya's internal development projects using Open Source and Microsoft technologies.

In Open Source technology, interns learn PHP, MySQL, CMS (Joomla), CSS, Java Script, HTML and AJAX etc. In Microsoft, graduates learn Dot.Net module including core C#.Net, ASP.Net 3.5/4.0, Basic & Advanced ASP.Net, ASP. Net Security, IIS Configuration & Hosting, Web Services, MySQL Server 2005, and Rich Internet Applications Development including AJAX, LINQ, Silver Light, and XML.

Students from rural areas, and those who are facing financial difficulties, are supported by stipend for their day-to-day living expenses. Four months training is offered to them on no-tuition basis. Less than 5% of Interns coming from a strong financial background do not receive a stipend and pay for their tuition. Currently, Hidaya has the capacity of training 160 software engineers every four months or 480 software engineers each year.

It costs Approximately $300-$500 for a training of 468 class hours (four months) to train an economically weak software engineer who is capable to start his free lance software development work or join a software house successfully.

 

System Administration Training
Under System Administration Training, fresh graduates and unemployed Information Technology & Communication engineers are provided training at Hidaya Institute of Science & Technology (HIST), a division of Hidaya Trust, Pakistan. Interns learn advanced concepts of installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, planning for and responding to service outages and other related problems, scripting or light programming, project management for systems related projects, supervising or training computer operators, and being a consultant for computer problems beyond the knowledge of technical support staff.

Interns learn theoretical concepts of cutting edge Open Source & Microsoft server technologies. In addition they work hands-on in Open Source on Linux and MY SQL and in Microsoft on XP, Windows 7, Server 2003, 2008 & SQL servers. Interns are also trained in VM Ware - Virtualization Technology.

Interns from rural areas, and those facing financial difficulties, are supported by stipend for their day-to-day living expenses and two months Internship is offered to them on a no-tuition basis. Less than 5% of Interns coming from strong financial backgrounds do not receive stipends and pay for their tuition. Currently, Hidaya has a capacity of training 20 to 40 system administrators every two months or 120 to 240 system administrators each year.

It costs Approximately $150-$250 for a training of 208 class hours (two months) to train an economically weak Information Technology & Communication engineer who is capable of start his free lance work or join an employer successfully.

 

Network Administration Training
Under Network Administration Training, fresh graduates and unemployed Information Technology & Communication engineers are provided training at Hidaya Institute of Science & Technology (HIST), a division of Hidaya Trust, Pakistan. Interns learn advance concepts of maintenance of computer hardware and software that comprises a computer network. This normally includes deploying, configuring, maintaining and monitoring active network equipment. interns are also taught the network design and security, particularly troubleshooting and/or debugging network-related problems, maintenance of the network's authorization infrastructure, and network backup systems.

Also, network engineers are prepared for a few of the certifications including: Juniper JNCIA, Juniper JNCIS, Cisco CCENT, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCIP, Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCIE, Cisco CCAr, Microsoft Certified System Engineer, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, CompTIA's Network+, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

Sitara-e-Isaar Awarded to Hidaya Foundation

The sister organization of Hidaya Trust, Hidaya Foundation was awarded Sitara-i-Eisaar (Star of Sacrifice) by the Government of Pakistan, in recognition of the results-oriented relief efforts of both the organizations during the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. It was awarded during a special ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC.
